Meet the team!

War In the Heartlands is a UK based Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Event. We currently run the event at the fabulous Leicester De Montfort Students’ Union. The event is run by, Liam Jordan, Tom Fretwell and Mark Wildman.

We have known each other for many many years and have share the desire to offer some of the best Wargaming experiences. We strive to create an event that people want…but equally an event that we would want to come to, year after year!

War In The Heartlands is a team effort and we cannot do it alone… so come and meet the team!

Liam, Tom and Mark!

Our Story

Liam, Tom and Mark had the idea to run War In the Heartlands following several years supporting The Baddice Podcasts’ Warhammer event “Blood and Glory”. They wanted to launch in 2020… but sadly the Covid-19 pandemic delayed in this by a year so they ran their first event in 2021.

One of the events unique selling points is the celebrity introductions to each round … they had this idea back in 2019, but had to kept this secret for nearly two years. They had a blast making these silly videos and we hope everyone continues to enjoy them!

No event can run without a team! So we’re pleased to introduce everyone who has helped year after year!

Robert Selwood – the picture man!

Most of the images captured on this website were taken by Rob. You can find more of his work on his Facebook page:

He’s an amazing artist and we are so thankful for his support. He captures so many memories for each event which we hope you will enjoy as much as we do!

JP – The spare player

How can any Warhammer event run without a spare player! JP has been the teams spare player since our inception! We continue to welcome JP back every year!

Zanab – the chef!

One of the reasons which makes War In The Heartlands special is the food Zanab provides. She cooks a full curry feast! Usually two types of curry, rice, nanns, onion bhaji and samosas ! What more could you want!

Andy Thornley

Andy is the teams organiser of tables, gaming mats, and terrain. He organises these because, quite frankly, no one else wants too! We’ve heard sometimes he plays Warhammer, but usually he’s found propping up the bar!

Mcskelly leathers

An an absolute master of his craft! Adam makes all of main prize support! Hand made leather dice cups, vanbraces and crazy Warhammer themed helmets!

Please check out his Facebook page to see the amazing stuff he makes! https://www.facebook.com/share/g/Dykwj9kD7ZwLEBdd/?mibextid=K35XfP
